The girl had waited so long for this day.
A bustling marketplace was open in the city and foreign
merchants were selling and buying rare folk crafts and fruits. But the girl was
most looking forward to the parade.
“Hurry up, grampa, or we’ll miss the parade.”
“Yes, I know, I know.”
She dragged her grandfather along to watch the parade from
the spot she had had her eye on for a while. The parade commemorated the
founding of the Holy Pegasus Kingdom and many visitors from other nearby
kingdoms were invited in, but the people were most interested in the appearance
of the knights.
“Oh, there they are!”
“It’s the Pegasus Knights!”
Everyone’s focus gathered on a parade float decorated to draw the eye.
But despite the float’s great size, only three girls were
waving from it. The gorgeous blonde girl in the center wore a white blouse that
accentuated her bust and a red dress-like skirt. The gray thigh highs and boots
also shined bright.
The black ponytail girl next to her had a beautiful foreign
face with clearly-defined single eyelids. She wore a bright blue knight uniform
with athletic shorts and silver leggings.
The smallest girl had fluffy brown hair and a face that
retained its childish innocence. Her yellow dress and apron did not quite match
her girlish appearance, but that only accentuated her adorableness. They were
all equally beautiful, but they were not wearing armor or carrying swords at
their hips.
They were too lovely to think of as knights.
But only because they were not yet fully equipped as the
Pegasus Knights.
“Wow, wow, wow! They’re so cool!”
The little girl flushed with excitement as the knight girls
appeared and started to cheer while waving her arm toward the central blonde
girl. She waved so hard she thought her arm would fall off.
“Tifa! Tifaaaaaaa!”
The blonde girl named Tifa was the knights’ leader.
She was the daughter of the noble Canesman family and a
master of the sword. She was tall, but her large chest, slender waist, and fit
thighs made it hard to tell.
Her facial features were extremely refined, but not at all
cold. In fact, the smile on her lips had a maternal look to it. Her inborn
nobility and gallant demeanor made her popular among the girls.
“Look, they’re all waving, so try to be a little friendly,
Misaka.”
Tifa’s whispered suggestion put a frown on the black-haired
girl’s face.
“That’s not how I do things.”
The ponytail knight to Tifa’s right was Misaka Itsukushima
Brooks.
She was the Pegasus Knights’ lieutenant and her sleek black
hair came from her foreign blood. She was slenderer than Tifa, but her
skintight shorts showed off the shape of her hips, which fit the intellectual
and serious image she gave off.
“Ah ha ha. They all love us!”
The brunette girl waving so innocently was Charlotte
Amberneel.
She was the daughter of a new noble family and the youngest
member of the knights. Her nickname was Charl. She was the shortest of the
three, but her chest was actually bigger than Misaka’s.
She was short and coquettish with plenty of feminine curves,
but she still had a lot of youthful innocence remaining. She was a little unathletic
and clumsy to be a knight and she sometimes worried her leader and lieutenant.
The three-member Pegasus Knights were the symbol of the Holy
Pegasus Kingdom. The Dark Lord and monster armies were a thing of the past, but
they continued the tradition of holy knights with mystical powers.
“Yes, yes. The knights are as pretty as ever.”
“Grampa, why are they all girls?”
The old man smiled and viewed the knight girls as he answered his
granddaughter.
“Because tradition says only a maiden can bind a contract
with a holy Pegasus. There were so many more when I was young. They were my
heroes back then.”
“Hmm. Look, Grampa! Here they come!”
The girl pointed into the sky and everyone around them
looked that way too.
Yes, this was where the Pegasus Knights got their name.
“Ohhhhhhhhh! The holy Pegasuses!”
With a loud whinny, three Pegasuses soared through the sky.
The legendary winged beasts were pure white, but they were
each shrouded in a different color element.
The Fire Pegasus caused red fire to erupt as it soared.
The Blue Pegasus was trailed by blue light as it raced.
The Thunder Pegasus wore a robe of lightning.
The mystical beasts glided splendidly overhead, raced
straight toward the three girls on the float…and created a dazzling flash as
they collided with them.
“Wowwwwwwwwwww!”
The little girl felt like she was dreaming. Just as the
legendary Pegasuses transformed into their elements, they became armor for the
knights and fit on their bodies.
The shoulder guards, gauntlets, and more were all light
armor, but it was rumored they were made from a mystical power and could
deflect any attack. The girls’ weapons were also made from mystical power.
Tifa held a silver spear with a crimson shaft. Misaka
wielded different-sized swords in either hand, both with an ice-cold blade.
Charl gave everyone a charming smile while she easily held aloft a golden
battle axe taller than she was. They all raised their weapons toward the
heavens above.
With their mystical armor and holy weapons, they were
finally in their true form as the Pegasus Knights.
“We are the Pegasus Knights who safeguard our kingdom!”
When they named themselves, the people’s excitement hit its
peak.
The Pegasus Knights were the kingdom’s pride and protector
and the people’s heroes. There were only three of them nowadays, but they were
still something the little girls out there could look up to.
Until the end of the parade, that is.
“Wh-what did you say? Th-this must be some kind of mistake.”
After the parade, the trio returned to the knight station to
find their personal belongings being carried out. Tifa grabbed one of the
soldiers and questioned him.
“I-I don’t know what to tell you. Our orders came directly
from the finance minister.”
“The finance minister?”
“Tifa, calm down. Does this mean we are being driven out of
the castle?”
“Ehh? How could this happen!?”
Charl looked on the verge of tears, so the soldier quickly
corrected Misaka.
“O-of course not! We would never kick out the Pegasus
Knights! Y-you could call it a job rotation or a change of workplace.”
He tried to calm the young child, but Tifa sighed.
“And where are we being sent?”
He led them to their new station: a cramped former storage room. The three of them barely fit inside together and it was on the north end of the castle where no one ever went.
