Harem Engagement: Chapter 2 - Flavor of a Widow

“Lady Fasilia, do you have a moment?”

After leaving the bath in despair, Bargisel returned to his room and crawled into bed.

But he was too agitated to sleep and finally decided to get out of bed. He used the moonlight to walk through the hallway instead of using a lantern or magic light. After some hesitation, he knocked on the lady of the castle’s door.

“Sel, what are you doing up at this hour?”

Fasilia opened the heavy door and had apparently been preparing for bed.

She wore a beige gown over her black mourning clothes and she had let down her long blonde hair so it fell across her back.

“Oh, sorry. I forgot how late it was. I will visit you again tomorrow.”

Seeing her told him how rude it was to visit this late, so he quickly started to turn around.

“Wait. You have something you wish to discuss, don’t you? Then come in.”

“But…”

“I was just thinking I would have trouble getting to sleep, so this is perfect. And I don’t want to stand out in the hall talking, so come in.”

Christina had apparently received word before she returned to the castle, so she immediately made her way to the tower with their personal rooms. When she saw the boy and the princesses standing at the entrance to meet her, she leaped at them.

“Oh, you have no idea how worried I was. Stella, Mary, and Akira too. I’m so glad. So very glad.”

The boy she adored like a son and her beloved daughters had been attacked while she was away, so the motherly woman spread her arms and hugged all three at once. She rained kisses down on them and rubbed her cheeks against them to express her delight in their safety.

“That hurts, mother. Besides, we are just fine thanks to Akira and Sherris.”

“But Akira was hurt…”

“Yes, I heard about that too. Akira…you were injured protecting my daughters, weren’t you? How can I ever thank you for saving them yet again?”

She faced the boy and gently stroked the arm wrapped in bandages.

“No, it was Sherris who saved them, not me.”

“No, I only did my duty. In fact, I must apologize for allowing the assassins inside the castle and for allowing Sir Akira be injured.”
It had obviously been Sherris who saved the day, but the black-haired maid refused to take credit and bowed deeply before the queen. It was exactly the kind of modesty one would expect of such a hard-working and cool young woman.

“You have nothing to apologize for, Sherris. Everyone is safe and sound after all.”

It was true the boy’s minor injury was the worst of it, but she still felt bad for allowing the assassins into the royal bedroom area.

“Have the villains still not been captured!?” asked Rosemary.

Magical Princess Makina: Another End 7 - Unfaithful Women in the Forbidden Archive

During a break from his knightly duties to protect the peace of Britannica, Wallace visited his beloved wife’s workplace like usual.

“Hello, Iris!”

“O-oh, honey. Hello.”
It was lunchtime, so the people visiting the library had left to get something to eat.

Wallace’s stomach was growling after his morning duties, so he was here to receive the lunch his wife had made.

Iris was seated at the library’s reception desk when her husband arrived.

“I’m famished! What’s for lunch today?”
He used to stop by after his morning patrol to pick up his wife’s lunch before the library opened, but lately, he would scarf that down immediately after his early morning duties and visit again at midday for something to eat for lunch.

Breakfast, the morning lunch, the midday lunch, and dinner.

He was eating Iris’s cooking four times a day. Nothing else could satisfy him and he could not work up any energy without it. He had even stopped eating out lately.

Magical Princess Makina: Chapter 7 - The Forbidden Archive and the Book of Joseph

In a certain fishing village on the north end of the island named Irland, none of the fewer than one hundred residents knew of the disappearance of the Grandel Kingdom or the rapid expansion of the Britannica Kingdom.

The village’s primary industries were fishing and running the inn. Their only pride was the one inn that was nearly falling apart but was known for being “where the great warriors stayed 600 years ago” after some passing adventurers demanded to stay there.

Yoko hated her home village where the only pride was in the distant past and people only ever discussed older times.

“Ha ha! The witch is out again!”

“Check out the vampire girl!”

“I’ll defeat you with my hero’s sword!”

A small rock hit Yoko in the head as she walked along a generally deserted beach. She looked back to find the unruly brats she loathed of the village she loathed. They were holding sticks and rocks to pretend at being heroes.

“I am not a witch!”

She opened her red eyes wide and raised her white eyebrows in anger and revealed the blood-red inside of her mouth as she yelled at them.

“What is the meaning of this!?”

Kurosaki Keigo shouted angrily into the receiver as the alarms blared incessantly.

“The control system software is being hacked. We cannot stop it!”

“Impossible! This network is supposed to use the coil to physically shut out any connection not made through the relay device! Has the relay device been hacked!?”
“No. We do not know how, but a bypass was most likely established from within.”

“Gh…but surely we have countless countermeasures against such things!”

“I-I am very sorry.”

“Hurry up and figure out what is causing it, you useless fuck!”
